TACOS
Ground Turkey Street Tacos
Lean ground turkey cooked with smoky spices, onion, garlic, and tomato paste, then finished with fresh lime. These simple street tacos are topped with onion, cilantro, and your favorite salsa or hot sauce.
Instructions
-
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced yellow onion and cook for 3 to 4 minutes, until softened.
-
Add the garlic and tomato paste. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly, until fragrant.
-
Add the ground turkey. Break it apart with a spoon and cook for 6 to 8 minutes, until it is no longer pink.
-
Stir in the chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 1 to 2 minutes until the turkey is evenly coated and the spices are fragrant.
-
Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the fresh lime juice. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
-
Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or directly over a gas flame until pliable and lightly charred.
-
Fill each tortilla with the seasoned ground turkey. Top with diced white onion, cilantro, salsa or hot sauce, and any optional toppings.
-
Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side.
Simple tip.
For extra flavor, char the tortillas directly over a gas flame for a few seconds per side before assembling the tacos.
Make it your own.
Add sliced radishes, cotija cheese, avocado sauce, pickled onions, or shredded cabbage. You can also increase the chili powder or add jalapeño if you want more heat.
